Welcome to Landon Athletics! Find full schedules for specific sports teams by selecting the team name from the drop down menus. On mobile devices, this can be found by scrolling down past the offerings for Lower, Middle and Upper Schools. Please note: all visiting teams and their families must enter the campus at 6101 Wilson Lane.
Every boy in our Lower, Middle and Upper Schools is required to participate in daily sports — varsity, club, or intramural — to stay physically fit and learn the value of teamwork, fair play, perseverance, and healthy living.
Landon's 75-acre campus offers state-of-the-art facilities such as our Barton Alumni Athletic Center, which includes two gymnasiums, a wrestling room, and a 5,500 square foot strength and conditioning area that features almost 9,000 pounds of weights.
Outside, we have a turf field (renovated in 2019) with a track, four grass fields,10 outdoor tennis courts, two baseball fields, an outdoor swimming pool, two miles of cross country trails, and a riflery range. Our ice hockey team skates at the Bears’ Den at Rockville Ice Arena. We also have two full-time athletic trainers on staff.
In the Upper School, we have a storied history of athletics success. Our varsity teams have brought home 198 Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) championships, and our athletes often go on to compete at the collegiate level — we have had more than 160 boys play NCAA athletics over the past decade, including 18 members of the Class of 2019. In just the last three years, 64 Landon alumni have played competitive sports in college, and many return back to campus to share their experiences.
In 2018-19, varsity wrestling won its second straight IAC conference title and swimming had its best finish in 17 years. Individually, our Bears racked up the accolades. Eighteen Landon Bears received All-IAC honors. Twelve of our, recognizing them as some of the best D.C.-area players and two varsity water polo students were recognized as Academic All-Americans.
